Why choose a private wildlife journey?

A good wildlife encounter depends less on luck than on timing and the guide beside you. Jaguars in Brazil’s Pantanal are easiest to find in the dry months, when they hunt along the riverbanks.

We plan around those windows, and where we can, we choose private conservancies over busier parks.

At Do Not Disturb, we match you with one of our dedicated luxury travel experts who designs a tailor-made itinerary around how you want your time away to feel. With deep destination knowledge and meticulous planning behind the scenes, we transform complex travel into something effortless and entirely your own.

The world without distraction.

Where to go

Every region has its own season, and the same reserve can feel entirely different from one month to the next. The Great Migration reaches the Masai Mara from around July to October. Olive Ridley turtles come ashore at Ostional in their thousands over a few nights at a time.

Each of our picks centres on a different animal, from leopards in the Sabi Sands to jaguars on the Pantanal’s rivers. For a deeper look at Africa, see our luxury African safaris page.

Your expert will match the month to the wildlife you want to see and will tell you plainly when a month is wrong for it.

Kenya and Tanzania

The herds cross the Mara River in Kenya between July and October. Earlier in the year, they gather on the southern plains of the Serengeti in Tanzania to give birth.

Private conservancies on the Mara’s edge allow walking safaris and night drives, and they limit the number of vehicles at each sighting.

Our Kilimanjaro to the Mara safari covers the south, and our Northern Frontier journey heads north to Samburu.

Safari

Botswana

Floodwater reaches the Okavango Delta during Botswana‘s dry winter, so the delta is at its fullest between June and August.

Game concentrates on the islands, and a mokoro, a traditional poled canoe, brings you quietly to elephants at the water’s edge.

Our Delta to Desert safari and Okavango and Victoria Falls journey both start here.

South Africa

The private reserves of the Sabi Sands share an unfenced border with Kruger National Park and are known for leopard sightings.

Madikwe offers Big Five viewing in a malaria-free reserve, which makes it a practical choice for families with young children.

Both pair easily with Cape Town, as on our Sabi Sands journey and Madikwe safari in South Africa.

Latin America

Brazil‘s Pantanal is widely considered the most reliable place to see wild jaguars, usually by boat between July and October. Our Pantanal moment is built around these river safaris.

In Costa Rica, we arrange visits to the arribada at Ostional with a biologist.

In the Galápagos, a naturalist guide accompanies every landing on our Peru and Galápagos journey.

Sri Lanka and Australia

Yala National Park in Sri Lanka has one of the highest densities of leopards anywhere, and a lodge on the park’s edge puts you at the gate for the first entry of the morning.

In Australia, Kangaroo Island holds sea lions and koalas within a short drive of each other, and our Southern Australia journey reaches it by helicopter.

How we plan wildlife journeys

Season comes first. We plan around migration windows, nesting cycles and flood levels.

Access comes next. On private conservancies, a guide can follow an animal off-road and stay with a sighting for as long as it lasts, without a line of vehicles behind you.

Early starts are part of wildlife travel, so we build in quiet afternoons at the lodge and keep transfers between camps short, often by light aircraft.

We also consider the ethics of every encounter. We do not include animal rides or captive interactions, and we favour lodges that put revenue into conservation and local communities.

Why plan your wildlife journey with Do Not Disturb

Wildlife travel leaves little room for guesswork. A camp in the wrong part of the Mara in August can mean hours of driving to reach the river.

Our experts know which camps are best placed in each month. We handle the light-aircraft connections and park fees, so the only early start you need to think about is the one that ends at a sighting.

What does Do Not Disturb do?

We design tailor-made luxury journeys. You tell us what you have in mind, whether a destination, a feeling or a celebration, and a dedicated travel expert shapes a private itinerary around you, then takes care of every detail before, during and after your trip.

Yes. Every itinerary on our site is a starting point. Your expert shapes the places, hotels, pace and length around your dates and preferences, or begins with a blank page.

How does planning a trip work?
