This fifteen-day journey continues Peru’s Andean route into Bolivia, extending Cusco and Machu Picchu through Lake Titicaca and into La Paz, for travellers who want the full scale of the Andes rather than Peru’s highlights alone.
The journey opens in Lima, the Pacific stretched beneath clifftop parks and a dining scene that has quietly become one of the finest on the continent, before the Andes take over entirely. Two nights in the Sacred Valley follow, the circular terraces at Moray and the salt pans cascading down the hillside at Maras revealing a landscape still shaped by Inca hands.
Rail travel through the Urubamba gorge leads to Machu Picchu itself, a private early entry timed ahead of the day’s first arrivals, the citadel’s terraces still holding the last of the night’s mist as the sun clears the surrounding peaks. One final night in Cusco, its Inca walls still visible beneath four centuries of colonial stonework, closes the Peruvian leg of the journey.
From there, the road turns toward Lake Titicaca, crossing from Peru into Bolivia at Copacabana, with a night on Isla del Sol, held in Inca mythology to be the birthplace of the sun itself, its slopes lit only by starlight once the sun goes down. The journey concludes in La Paz, the world’s highest administrative capital, markets spilling across entire hillsides and colonial architecture pressed against Aymara tradition at every turn.
Two nights at Belmond Miraflores Park open the trip on the Pacific, with the first day held free before a private city tour and an afternoon spent in Barranco.
Onto the Sacred Valley, two nights at Inkaterra Hacienda Urubamba anchor time spent among Moray’s terraced circles, the salt pans at Maras, and Pisac’s Sunday market.
Rail travel to Aguas Calientes and an overnight at Belmond Sanctuary Lodge lead into a private early entry to the famous citadel, ahead of the first buses from town.
One last night in Cusco, at Belmond Hotel Monasterio, closes the Andean leg of the journey before the road turns toward Lake Titicaca.
