The restaurant serves Peruvian cooking with produce drawn from the surrounding cloud forest where possible, and breakfast is timed early enough for guests heading to the citadel at first light.

Belmond Sanctuary Lodge sits directly against the boundary of the Machu Picchu Sanctuary, the only property permitted inside it. Where every other guest in the region rides a bus up from Aguas Calientes each morning, staying here means the citadel is reachable on foot, before the first buses of the day have even begun their ascent.
The lodge holds a limited number of rooms, and because it sits inside a protected boundary, availability does not expand with demand the way hotels in town can. Rooms look out over cloud forest rather than the citadel itself, keeping the ruins as something to walk to rather than view from a window.
The property’s gardens hold an active hummingbird population, and its restaurant serves Peruvian cooking with produce drawn from the surrounding cloud forest region where possible.
At Do Not Disturb, we match you with one of our dedicated Peru luxury travel experts who designs a tailor-made itinerary around how you want your time away to feel. With deep destination knowledge and meticulous planning behind the scenes, we transform complex travel into something effortless and entirely your own.
The world without distraction.

The lodge’s gardens hold an active hummingbird population, and guests can spend an afternoon simply sitting among them without leaving the grounds. A small spa offers treatments suited to unwinding after a day spent walking the ruins.

A private early entry to Machu Picchu, arranged directly with the lodge, is the property’s defining activity. Guided walks through the surrounding cloud forest and birdwatching excursions are also available for guests staying more than one night.

Rooms facing the property’s gardens and surrounding cloud forest, positioned closest to the walking path into the Sanctuary itself.

Larger rooms and suites with views towards the surrounding peaks, suited to guests staying two nights to allow for both a sunrise and a sunset visit to the citadel.
