Isola Comacina

Lake Como’s only island sits just off the western shore near Ossuccio. Its ruins recall a settlement destroyed in the 12th century, while the island’s wooded paths and single restaurant give it a secluded character. It is reached by boat and works well as a quiet stop between Lenno and the central lake.

Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) is the principal gateway for travelers arriving from the United States, with nonstop and connecting services from major North American cities. From Malpensa, Lake Como is around an hour by private transfer, depending on the town and traffic. Como, Cernobbio and the western shore are the most convenient first stops, while Bellagio and Varenna require a longer road journey or an onward boat transfer.

From the United Kingdom

Direct flights connect London with both Milan Malpensa and Milan Linate (LIN). Linate is closer to central Milan, while Malpensa is often more convenient for reaching the western side of the lake without crossing the city.
