Cap Rocat sits within the historic walls of an 18th-century Napoleonic fortress on a secluded promontory of the Bay of Palma, one of the most private and unusual properties in the Mediterranean.

Architect Antonio Obrador converted the rocky hillfort complex into a hotel, work that has since won the Europa Nostra, España Nostra, and Fortress Study Group awards. The property has been declared a Heritage Asset and listed as a National Monument.

The surrounding landscape is a Protected Natural Area, known for its Posidonia meadows and designated a Special Protection Area for Birds, with bird watching directly from the grounds. The location, scale, and history combine into an offer the island simply cannot replicate elsewhere, with style, service, and privacy hard to match in Mallorca.

Food and Drink

La Fortaleza is the hotel’s main restaurant, set in the former dining hall of the fortress with high vaulted arches and stone ceilings. Led by Chef Víctor García, the menu reinterprets Mallorcan cuisine using avant-garde techniques and local seasonal produce. The private dining room in the fortress’s former kitchen is also available for wine tastings and cooking classes.

The Sea Club sits on the waterfront in the Cala de la Reina cove, an open-air restaurant serving dishes cooked on a traditional Mallorcan wood-fired oven and grill. The menu draws on fresh seafood, local salads, and the classic recipes of the island, with the Mediterranean directly in front of the tables.
Spa and Wellness

The Cap Rocat spa sits 12 metres below ground in the most sheltered part of the fortress, with light entering through an opening in the rock above the indoor saltwater pool.

A hammam, Thai massages, body wraps, and facials using organic products sourced from the island complete the treatment menu. Above ground, the fitness centre offers personal training alongside yoga and pilates classes, with tennis courts on site. The private cliff beach below gives direct access to the sea.
Location

Cap Rocat sits on a secluded promontory of the Bay of Palma in Mallorca, within a Protected Natural Area known for its Posidonia meadows and Special Protection Area for Birds status.

Palma de Mallorca is around 20 minutes away by car, with the historic old town, the Cathedral of Santa María, and the city’s restaurants and shopping all within easy reach. Palma Airport is approximately 15 minutes by car. The fortress sits on its own private cliff beach below the property.

Sentinels

Once used as an ancient defensive position and where the cannons were hidden, the Sentinels rooms are the most distinctive at Cap Rocat. The bed sits in the centre of the room with sea views.

Marble floors, stone walls, and wooden ceilings give the space a one-of-a-kind character. A double bed, two armchairs, a table, and a desk in each. Two bathrooms with a shower and a bathtub, with mirrored doors filling the room with reflections of the sea.
