La Mamounia has been Marrakech’s grand hotel since 1923, set within the medina walls and surrounded by eight hectares of gardens filled with citrus trees, olive groves, and roses.
The property blends Moroccan craft, hand-set zellige tiles, carved cedar ceilings, and painted wood with the scale and service of a proper city palace. Guests have included Winston Churchill, who painted the gardens during his stays, and Alfred Hitchcock.
The hotel sits a five-minute walk from the Koutoubia Mosque and close enough to Jemaa el-Fnaa to reach easily on foot, though the gardens and pool are reason enough on their own to stay close to the property. Three restaurants cover Moroccan, Italian, and Asian cuisine, and Marrakech-Menara Airport is a short transfer away.
