Day 1
Arrive in Costa Rica’s lively capital, where you’ll be met at the airport and transferred to your boutique eco-lodge in the hills of Santa Bárbara de Heredia. Surrounded by lush coffee plantations and tropical gardens, this tranquil retreat sets the tone for your journey. Enjoy a warm welcome with locally grown coffee and seasonal fruit before settling into your sustainably designed suite overlooking the Central Valley.
Day 2
Spend the day exploring one of Costa Rica’s renowned organic coffee farms. Join a local guide to learn about every stage of the process, from growing and harvesting to roasting and tasting, and discover how sustainable farming practices protect both the soil and the surrounding ecosystem. If you’re visiting during harvest season, you can even try your hand at picking ripe coffee cherries. In the afternoon, relax in your lodge’s gardens or enjoy a farm-to-table dinner made with ingredients grown on site.
Day 3
After breakfast, journey toward the misty hills of San Ramón, stopping to visit the artisan town of Sarchí, famous for its hand-painted oxcarts and vibrant woodcrafts. Meet local artisans and learn about the cultural traditions that define rural Costa Rican life. Continue through rolling countryside to your next eco-retreat, nestled within a private cloudforest reserve. This peaceful hideaway combines rustic charm with a deep commitment to conservation.
Day 4
Wake to birdsong and fresh mountain air. Today, you’ll explore the reserve on gentle forest trails designed to preserve the surrounding environment. Accompanied by a naturalist guide, discover orchids, butterflies, and exotic birds among the trees. Spend the afternoon at leisure, perhaps joining a sustainability workshop or visiting the property’s organic dairy farm before enjoying dinner crafted with locally sourced ingredients.
Day 5
After a relaxed breakfast, travel west to Costa Rica’s Pacific coast, where lush tropical forest meets golden sand. Your destination is an eco-luxury resort overlooking a secluded beach, known for its community initiatives and low-impact design. Day 6
Spend the day discovering the natural and cultural beauty of the Nicoya Peninsula. Day 7
Fly south to Puerto Jiménez, gateway to the Osa Peninsula – one of the most biodiverse regions on earth. A scenic drive brings you to your remote rainforest lodge sitting just above the Golfo Dulce. After a warm welcome and lunch made with local produce, spend the afternoon relaxing in your open-air bungalow or exploring nearby trails with a naturalist guide. The evening is marked by candlelight, fresh sea breezes, and the sounds of the forest.
Day 8
Wake early to the call of howler monkeys and tropical birds. Today offers a choice of guided adventures, with rainforest hikes, waterfall visits, beachside yoga and birdwatching walks as options for you to choose from. Each experience is led by expert local guides whose knowledge helps guests understand the delicate balance of this ecosystem. Later, unwind by the pool or in a hammock, reflecting on your time in this extraordinary corner of Costa Rica.
Day 9
After breakfast, transfer back to San José by light aircraft or private road journey. Spend your final afternoon strolling through La Sabana Metropolitan Park, a lush urban oasis that symbolizes Costa Rica’s green heart even within the capital.
