At a glance...

The Chancery Rosewood occupies the building that Finnish-American architect Eero Saarinen designed as the US Embassy in 1960, on the west side of Grosvenor Square in Mayfair. It served as the embassy until 2018, when the mission moved south of the river, and the Grade II-listed building has since been converted into one of London’s newest hotels.

Inside, the interiors are by the French designer Joseph Dirand, and all 144 rooms are suites or houses, many of them lit by the tall windows of Saarinen’s facade. The views look out over Grosvenor Square and the rooftops of Mayfair.

Much of Mayfair is within a short walk. Bond Street and its fashion houses are a few minutes away, Hyde Park lies just to the west, and the restaurants and galleries of Mayfair and Marylebone sit on either side.
