This eleven-day journey extends the classic Lima, Sacred Valley, and Machu Picchu route south into the Amazon basin, giving equal weight to the Andes and the rainforest rather than treating one as an afterthought to the other.
Lima opens the trip with two days on the coast, time enough for the clifftop parks above Miraflores and a kitchen scene now recognized well beyond South America, before the itinerary turns inland toward the Andes. The Sacred Valley follows, with Moray’s terraced circles and the salt pans at Maras giving a clear sense of Inca engineering before Pisac’s Sunday market adds a slower, more local pace to the day.
Rail travel through the Urubamba gorge leads to Machu Picchu, a private early entry ahead of the day’s first arrivals. Two nights in Cusco follow, the Qorikancha temple and the stonework at Sacsayhuamán, both within walking distance of the historic center, before a short flight trades Andean altitude for the Amazon basin.
Three nights at a private lodge on the Madre de Dios River close the trip, dawn visits to a clay lick, oxbow lake excursions, and a night walk that shows a side of the rainforest most day visitors never see.

Peru rarely makes the traditional honeymoon shortlist next to the beach destinations that usually fill it, but for couples who want the trip to mean something beyond the resort, few places offer as much. Machu Picchu, Cusco’s layered Inca and colonial architecture, the Sacred Valley’s living textile traditions, and a private stretch of Amazon rainforest […]

Peru and Mexico each hold one of the most recognized ancient sites on earth, Machu Picchu and Chichen Itza, and each pairs that landmark with a country’s worth of food, landscape, and history built around it.
