France is the most visited country on earth, which tells you everything about its appeal and nothing about how to do it well. This itinerary takes a different approach.
Four nights in Paris built around private access, early mornings, and the restaurants that require someone to have made the reservation for you. Then south to Provence for four nights, where the pace drops entirely. Finally two nights on the Cote d’Azur.
Experience France at its most refined.
Your driver meets you at Charles de Gaulle and transfers you into the city, around 45 minutes depending on traffic. Check in to Le Bristol on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore, one of Paris’s great palace hotels, where the room will be ready for you regardless of arrival time. The afternoon is yours to decompress.
Dinner that evening at Epicure, the hotel’s three Michelin-starred restaurant, where the courtyard garden is one of the genuinely lovely dining settings in the city.
A private guide collects you after breakfast for a morning at the Louvre, timed for early opening to get ahead of the main crowds. A focused two hours through the permanent collection with someone who knows which rooms to prioritize rather than attempting to cover everything.
Lunch at a bistro in the 1st arrondissement your guide knows well. The afternoon is free. Tonight, a reservation at Le Clarence or a table the hotel’s concierge has arranged on your behalf.
An early start to reach Versailles before the bulk of the day visitors arrive. A private guide takes you through the State Apartments, the Hall of Mirrors, and the gardens at a pace that allows you to actually look rather than move through.
Lunch in the town of Versailles at a restaurant the locals use. Back in Paris by mid-afternoon. A free evening to use as you choose.
The city without a schedule. A morning at the Musee d’Orsay, which is significantly more manageable than the Louvre and rewards the kind of time most itineraries never allow.
Lunch on the Left Bank. The afternoon in Saint-Germain-des-Pres or wherever the morning takes you. A final dinner in Paris in the ever-stylish Le Marais district.
A mid-morning departure by private car heading south. The drive to Provence is around six hours including a lunch stop, which your driver will help arrange in advance. Lyon’s old town is a natural stopping point with plenty of classic French cuisine to try.
By early evening you are arriving at Villa La Coste near Le Puy-Sainte-Reparade in the Luberon, a contemporary art hotel set into an olive grove above a working vineyard. Dinner at the hotel that first evening.

Lunch in one of the villages. The afternoon back at Villa La Coste with a free afternoon. The sculpture trail through the vineyards, the spa, a long early evening on the terrace.
A private morning with a guide through the hilltop villages of the Luberon, Les Baux-de-Provence and Gordes, taken at a pace that allows them to be beautiful rather than ticked off.
Lunch in a village square. The afternoon back at Villa La Coste, with access to the sculpture trail through the vineyards and the spa, which is among the most architecturally striking wellness facilities in southern France.
A private guide takes you into Aix-en-Provence for a morning following Paul Cezanne’s relationship with the city and with Mont Sainte-Victoire, the mountain he painted obsessively throughout his career.
The Atelier Cezanne, the Jas de Bouffan estate where he grew up, and the Terrain des Peintres viewpoint. Back at Villa La Coste by early afternoon. A free evening.
Southeast to Arles, around 45 minutes by private car, for a morning in the Roman city that Van Gogh painted during the most productive period of his life. The Roman amphitheatre, the Place du Forum, and the Fondation Vincent van Gogh, which is a serious museum worth two hours of anyone’s time. Lunch in Arles. Back at Villa La Coste for a final afternoon and dinner at the hotel.
A slow morning. The pool, the terrace, the sea one last time. Private car to Nice Cote d’Azur Airport, timed to your departure. The return flight will feel too soon.
