At a glance

Tivoli Avenida Liberdade opened in 1933 as the first Tivoli hotel in Lisbon and remains the city’s longest-standing five-star address.

The actress Beatriz Costa, one of the leading figures of Portuguese cinema’s golden age, lived at the hotel for over thirty years, and her presence is honored today in a suite that carries her name and her own collection of period furniture and photographs. The hotel stands on Avenida da Liberdade, Lisbon’s grand boulevard of theaters, fashion houses, and embassies, with Rossio, Baixa, and Chiado all within walking distance.

The hotel has 264 rooms including 77 suites. The Signature Style rooms, recently renovated, draw on the hotel’s 1930s and 1950s history, with Portuguese craftsmanship and artwork carried through the interiors rather than treated as decoration. A semi-tropical garden surrounds the outdoor pool, providing a quiet center to a hotel positioned in the busiest part of the city.

SEEN by Olivier is the hotel’s rooftop restaurant, standing on the top floor with Art Deco styling and panoramic views to the Tagus River. Chef Olivier da Costa’s menu blends Mediterranean and Japanese influences, doubling as one of Lisbon’s most established nightlife spots with cocktails and a DJ.

Cervejaria Liberdade is the hotel’s second restaurant, focused on Portuguese seafood including oysters from the Algarve coast and the traditional pica-pau steak with a modern touch. The Lobby Bar operates through the day with piano music and afternoon cocktails. The Sky Bar occupies the rooftop alongside SEEN, with a guest-only Pool Bar operating through the summer.

Portugal’s most visited cities tend to absorb all the attention, leaving a string of historically significant, culturally layered destinations largely undisturbed by mass tourism.

Lisbon 9 min read

Lisbon balances old-world charm with easy modern rhythm. Draped across seven hills, it’s a city shaped by light and resilience. Moorish alleys, tiled facades, and tramlines tracing the past into the present. Here, mornings begin in Alfama’s quiet lanes and end with Fado under low light. Between them: markets, monasteries, sea air, and slow meals […]

Kenya’s most compelling honeymoon itinerary moves between two entirely different worlds: the wildlife-dense plains of the Maasai Mara and the ancient coral-stone quietude of Lamu Island. Together, they form a journey that is both dramatically varied and precisely calibrated for couples seeking depth over spectacle.

While the Masai Mara dominates Kenya’s safari conversation, Laikipia Plateau has quietly assembled one of Africa’s most compelling luxury wildlife destinations across its network of private conservancies. Here, exclusivity is structural rather than marketed; it takes the form of land, access, and a conservation model that keeps the crowds out by design.
