This journey is designed as a simple, unhurried stay for families of all sizes on Mauritius’s eastern shore. Belle Mare is known for its long, palm-lined beach, calm lagoon and open horizon.
On arrival at Plaine Magnien, you are met and transferred directly to Belle Mare. The first day is intentionally light, giving you and your family time to recover from travel and adjust to the island’s pace. A walk along the beach, a swim in the lagoon or a quiet dinner as the sun lowers into the sea is more than enough.
The following day is about orientation. You may choose to stay close to the water, explore the shoreline by kayak or simply settle into island mornings shaped by light, warmth and open time.
Once you have settled in, the following days invite you onto the water. The lagoon off Belle Mare is calm and clear, ideal for snorkelling or diving to discover the island’s marine life. A glass-bottom boat offers a gentler way to observe the reef that is perfect for children, while still remaining close to shore.
Time between excursions is deliberately unfilled. Afternoons lend themselves to shade, reading and quiet swims, with no pressure to move beyond the beach unless you wish to.
Midway through the stay, the focus can shift inward or outward depending on mood. The spa provides space for rest and recovery, while the ocean offers opportunities for more active pursuits such as windsurfing or waterskiing.
A morning of movement followed by a slow afternoon, or vice versa, feels entirely in keeping with the island’s pace.
For those curious to see more of Mauritius, these days open the door to the island’s interior. Scenic drives reveal mountain landscapes, waterfalls and a quieter, rural side of the island that contrasts with the coast.
Alternatively, you may choose to head further out to sea. Catamaran cruises and deep-sea fishing offer a broader sense of the Indian Ocean, while still returning you to the familiarity of Belle Mare by evening.
An early transfer returns you to the airport for your international flight home. The journey ends gently, marked less by final moments than by the lingering sense of time well spent and a week defined by consistency, comfort and calm.
