The world without distraction.

At a glance

Hotel Rangá stands on the banks of the Rangá river in South Iceland, a design-forward property that trades minimalist Nordic cool for something more unexpected: six themed Master Suites inspired by the world’s continents, from the Aurora Suite to the Antarctica room, each designed around a different corner of the globe without leaving Iceland’s wild south.

The hotel’s on-site observatory sets it apart from any other luxury property in the country. Dedicated to stargazing and northern lights viewing, it gives guests a front-row seat to the Arctic sky, with expert guides on hand to make the most of every clear night.

Back inside, the Rangá Restaurant and Bar delivers the kind of high-quality dining that holds its own against the remoteness of the hotel, while the property’s art collection adds a cultured edge to every corridor.

In detail

  • Food and Drink

    Food and Drink

The Rangá Restaurant holds a Michelin Key distinction and earns it. The menu is rooted in modern Nordic cuisine, built almost entirely around locally sourced Icelandic ingredients, from geothermal greenhouse produce to fresh-caught fish.

River views set the scene for dinner, while the Rangá Bar backs it up with one of the most extensive whisky collections in Iceland, plus classic cocktails and signature drinks served around the clock.

  • Spa and Wellness

    Spa and Wellness

Wellness at Rangá is built around the outdoor experience rather than a traditional spa menu. Geothermal hot tubs stand on the riverbank for late-night soaks under the aurora, with handmade wooden benches and warm snowsuits on loan from reception to make the cold nights comfortable.

The hotel cuts all external lighting when conditions are right, and a dedicated wake-up service means guests never sleep through the show. The setting does the rest.

  • Activities

    Activities

Hotel Rangá stands at the center of Iceland’s most adventure-rich region, with a tour program spanning everything from glacier hikes and volcano excursions to helicopter flights, horseback riding, and ATV rides across black sand beaches.

Tours range from one-hour outings to full-day private expeditions, with the hotel handling all bookings. The on-site observatory adds expert-guided stargazing and aurora viewing on clear nights, one of the most distinctive amenities on any luxury property in Iceland.

Room Types

Master Suites

Spanning 70 square meters, the Master Suites are among the most distinctive rooms in Iceland. Each is designed around a different continent, from an Antarctica suite in stark black and white to an Africa room with a wheat-straw ceiling.

Private balconies overlook the Rangá River, while inside, king-size beds, generous soaking tubs, and handmade artwork set the tone for the night ahead.

Junior Suites

At 42 square meters, the Junior Suites offer the same continent-hopping concept at a more intimate scale. Native American textiles fill the North America room; shoji screens define the Asia suite.

Each has a private balcony with river views, a sitting area, and luxury touches including Nespresso, plush bathrobes, and a bath and shower combination. A strong entry point into the Rangá experience.

Deluxe Superior Rooms

At 30 square meters, the Deluxe Superior rooms are the most family-friendly option in the house. Direct access to the geothermal hot tubs and river views do a lot of the heavy lifting, while built-in wall beds and a flexible twin-or-double configuration make them a practical choice for groups.

Comfortable armchairs, a Nespresso machine, and Rangá’s signature aurora wake-up service ensure the essentials are well covered.

Deluxe Rooms

The Deluxe rooms lean into Icelandic character rather than continental theater. At 26 square meters, they are intimate but well-considered, with hand-painted murals by local artists, wooden furniture, and views of either the Rangá River or Mount Hekla.

A leather couch, jacuzzi bathtub, Nespresso machine, and Rangá’s aurora wake-up service round out a room that earns its keep after a long day on the road.

From Lapland to Iceland, these remote Arctic lodges deliver the Northern Lights with all the luxuries you desire.

Iceland 6 min read

Iceland sits on one of the world’s most geothermally active zones, a land where the earth literally steams beneath your feet. But beyond the dramatic geology lies a centuries-old wellness culture that harnesses these natural forces to restore body and mind.

Kenya’s most compelling honeymoon itinerary moves between two entirely different worlds: the wildlife-dense plains of the Maasai Mara and the ancient coral-stone quietude of Lamu Island. Together, they form a journey that is both dramatically varied and precisely calibrated for couples seeking depth over spectacle.

While the Masai Mara dominates Kenya’s safari conversation, Laikipia Plateau has quietly assembled one of Africa’s most compelling luxury wildlife destinations across its network of private conservancies. Here, exclusivity is structural rather than marketed; it takes the form of land, access, and a conservation model that keeps the crowds out by design.
