Secrets Akumal sits on Akumal Bay in the Riviera Maya, around an hour south of Cancún International Airport and walking distance from one of Mexico’s most famous sea turtle beaches. The resort is adults-only and part of Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection, operating on the Unlimited-Luxury program with food, drinks, entertainment, and concierge service all built into the rate.
The accommodation totals 434 smoke-free suites across multiple categories, including Junior Suites, Preferred Club categories with private lounge access, and the upper-end Presidential and Romance Master Suites. Many come with ocean views, swim-out access, or private plunge pools.
Three main pools, including an infinity pool, sit alongside 11 smaller swim-out pools. Dining covers nine venues across French, Mexican, Asian, Italian, and seafood, and the Secrets Spa adds an 18,000 sqft sanctuary with hydrotherapy, seaweed treatments, and signature facials. The Secrets Spa covers over 18,000 sqft, with a hydrotherapy circuit, sauna, steam room, and bracing showers through the wet area. The full-service salon handles skin and hair treatments, manicures, and pedicures.
Treatments are available indoors or outdoors, including singles and couples massages. The signature 105-minute Water Journey Treatment is a curated experience using scrubs, muds, and calming masks alongside the hydrotherapy facilities.
Secrets Akumal is on Akumal Bay in the Riviera Maya, on the Caribbean coast of Quintana Roo. The resort is around an hour south of Cancún International Airport, 20 minutes from Playa del Carmen, and within easy reach of the Mayan archaeological sites of Tulum and Cobá.
Akumal means “Place of the Turtles” in Mayan, with a famous green sea turtle population on the world’s second-largest barrier reef directly offshore.
