At Do Not Disturb, we match you with one of our dedicated luxury travel experts who designs a tailor-made itinerary around how you want your time away to feel. The world without distraction.

At a glance

Niehku Mountain Villa sits in the Riksgränsen ski resort, 200 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle and 50 metres from the Norwegian border, with Norway’s fjords just a few kilometres away. The villa was built on the site of the old roundhouse of the iron ore railway that has crossed this landscape for over a century.

Fourteen rooms (twelve doubles and two suites) sit alongside a dining room, bar, lounge, sauna, gym, and massage services. The villa works at the foot of the mountain with the informality and personal atmosphere of a private residence.

The ground floor centres around a dining room and bar with an open fire pit inspired by coal-fired steam engine boilers. The lounge above has panoramic views over the Riksgränsen ski resort and Vassijaure Lake. Interiors are by the Stylt agency, and all rooms hold Hästens beds. Skiing, heliskiing, hiking, and Arctic winter experiences are all guided by the villa’s own IFMGA-certified mountain team.

In detail

  • Food and Drink

    Food and Drink

The dining room is the heart of the lodge, serving a set menu each evening built around local ingredients, wild game, and fish from the surrounding forests, mountains, and lakes.

The menu follows a culinary journey from the Gulf of Bothnia, with Kalix löjrom as a starting point, through the forests of the Torne Valley with moose, berries, and mushrooms, over the mountaintops with reindeer and grouse, and across the Norwegian border to the fish and shellfish of the Lofoten Islands.

  • Spa and Wellness

    Spa and Wellness

A sauna, gym, and massage services are built into the lodge. The wellness setup is informal and personal rather than spa-scale, in line with the villa’s private-residence feel.

After a day on the mountain, the sauna and massage rooms offer a natural recovery point before dinner in the main dining room below.

  • Activities

    Activities

The villa’s own IFMGA-certified mountain guides lead five core experiences: heliskiing across over 5,000 square kilometres of terrain, ski touring and off-piste skiing, freeriding at the Riksgränsen ski resort, Arctic Winter Weekends covering snowmobile tours and Northern Lights, and guided hiking from late June through September.

The founding team are skiers and adventurers with careers spanning some of the world’s most remote heliskiing locations. Guests are taken to mountains, valleys, fjords, and remote spots where few travellers venture.
