InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa

InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa

Two kilometers from the airport, with Moorea Island across the water and the only resort to bring the Heiva i Tahiti festival’s top dancers to the property for a four-night annual program.

At Do Not Disturb, we match you with one of our dedicated luxury travel experts who designs a tailor-made itinerary around how you want your time away to feel. With deep destination knowledge and meticulous planning behind the scenes, we transform complex travel into something effortless and entirely your own.

The world without distraction.

At a glance

InterContinental Tahiti Resort and Spa grounds run down to the lagoon, with overwater bungalows extending above the water and garden rooms and suites set among tropical vegetation behind. Moorea Island is directly across the water, visible from most overwater bungalows and from Le Lotus, the resort’s overwater gastronomic restaurant.

This is a primary gateway hotel for French Polynesia. Most island-hopping itineraries pass through here, either side of the onward flight, and the resort runs combined rates with InterContinental’s Bora Bora property for guests doing both.

The cultural programming sets it apart. Mini Heiva brings the top dancers from the annual Heiva i Tahiti festival to the resort for a four-night run each year, and weekly theme nights run traditional dance and live music through the calendar. Six dining venues, an Algotherm thalassotherapy spa, and 24-hour fitness round out the operation.

In detail

  • Food and Drink

    Food and Drink

Six venues cover the dining roster, wider than most Tahiti hotels. Le Lotus is the overwater gastronomic restaurant, offering high-quality cuisine at lunch and dinner with lagoon views and Moorea across the water. Te Tiare runs all-day Polynesian and international cooking, and Huriama Garden handles tapas and cocktails under banana trees from midday.

The Tahitian Sunday brunch with live music runs every week from 7 am, and Le Lotus Swim-Up Bar serves the pool throughout the day.

  • Spa and Wellness

    Spa and Wellness

Algotherm Spa runs a thalassotherapy-based treatment menu using the French marine skincare brand throughout, with massages, body wraps, and facial therapies given a Polynesian influence. Guests are received in a dedicated lounge with herbal tea before treatments begin.

A 24-hour fitness center sits alongside for guests training across time zones, useful given how much of the resort’s traffic is in transit between flights.

  • Location

    Location

Two kilometers from Faaa International Airport, the most practical luxury base on the main island. The northwest coast position puts Papeete’s markets, museums, and waterfront within easy reach.

The lagoon directly in front faces Moorea across the Sea of the Moon. The resort runs an island-hopping rate with its Bora Bora sister property, and the airport proximity makes connections to Rangiroa, Tikehau, Moorea, and the outer islands straightforward from the same base.

Room Types

Classic Rooms

The Classic Rooms are the entry-level category, finished with Polynesian-influenced furniture, timber floors, and original local paintings. Each room has a private balcony with glass sliding doors opening onto either garden or lagoon views.

Standard kit covers the brand basics: work desk, marble bathroom, minibar. The least expensive way into the resort for guests using it primarily as an airport-adjacent base before island-hopping.

Overwater Bungalows

The Overwater Bungalows stand on stilts directly above the lagoon, each with a private deck stepping down to the water. The bedroom faces the lagoon and Moorea Island across the channel.

These are the rooms most guests book: the standard French Polynesia overwater experience at a more accessible price than the Bora Bora resorts. Glass viewing panels in some categories show marine life directly below the floor.

Both offer overwater bungalows, impeccable service, and water so clear it barely seems real. But these two honeymoon heavyweights are defined by their differences as much as their similarities. Here’s how to decide.
