The building dates to the late 1800s and has taken guests for nearly a century, hosting a young John F. Kennedy in the 1940s; the door to his room is still kept by the front desk. Just 17 rooms and suites, decorated with antiques, fine art, and coastal New England touches, with Frette linens and private baths.

An inn rather than a resort. Breakfast is farm-to-table, with the kitchen’s well-known scones, and afternoon tea is included, but there is no dinner restaurant; the concierge books guests into Edgartown’s options. A small spa, a fitness centre and steam room, a wraparound porch, and a garden terrace round out the offer. Quiet, eco-conscious, and pet-friendly. The village is a few blocks away, and Martha’s Vineyard Airport is about 10 minutes.

Food and Drink

Hob Knob is not a restaurant-led hotel. What it does well is breakfast, farm-to-table and included in the rate, built around its locally sourced scones and a choice of yogurt parfait or fresh fruit and a hot dish.

Afternoon tea, also included, is served in the gardens or sitting rooms. There is no dinner service, but the concierge books tables across Edgartown, with strong options like Alchemy, The Seafood Shanty, and Behind the Bookstore all within a short walk.
Spa and Wellness

The Hob Knob Spa is a small in-house spa offering massage, with a fitness centre and steam room on-site. The mood is restful rather than full-service, in keeping with a 17-room inn.

Much of the downtime happens in the common spaces: a drawing room with a fireplace, cosy sitting rooms, and a wraparound porch that leads out to a garden terrace, where tea is served. The concierge can also arrange off-site spa treatments around the island.
Location

Hob Knob is on Upper Main Street in central Edgartown, a few blocks from the village centre, with its harbor, shops, galleries, and restaurants all walkable.

The island is easy to cover on foot or by bike, with public buses and taxis on hand. Joseph Sylvia State Beach is about three miles away and Edgartown Golf Club is one mile away. The airport is roughly 10 minutes away, with year-round ferries to Vineyard Haven.
