At a glance

Arctic Treehouse Hotel stands on a wooded hillside on the Arctic Circle in Rovaniemi, the capital of Finnish Lapland, with three accommodation categories set among the trees and facing the northern sky through floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows.

The property is reached by road, train, or plane, with Rovaniemi Airport a short transfer away and SantaPark and Santa Claus Village within walking distance.

The hotel is built around the two experiences that define Finnish Lapland. In winter, the long nights and the position on the Arctic Circle give it some of the best Northern Lights conditions in Finland, with snowmobile safaris, reindeer farm visits, husky rides, ice fishing, and Arctic floating among the activities arranged directly from the property. In summer, the Midnight Sun turns the forest light until well past midnight, and the lake a twenty-minute drive from the hotel opens for wild swimming.

In detail

  • Food and Drink

    Food and Drink

Rakas Restaurant and Bar takes its name from the Finnish word for beloved. The kitchen works with Arctic ingredients throughout the menu, including reindeer, fresh lake fish, wild mushrooms, and berries, all prepared with a contemporary approach to traditional Lappish cooking.

Private fireside dinners in the snow can be arranged on request, as can private dining in the restaurant’s dedicated dining room. The bar serves drinks and light snacks throughout the day and into the evening.

  • Activities

    Activities

Snowmobile Sledding covers the Lapland forest in a heated sled towed behind a snowmobile, with a guide who knows the best positions for Northern Lights viewing on clear nights. Arctic Floating is a guided drift on the frozen river in a thermal floating suit, with the sky above and the forest on both sides.

The Northern Lights Walk covers the forest away from the hotel’s light pollution, led by a guide who monitors the KP index in real time and moves the group to the best available position. Snow Bikes and Fat Bikes are available for those wanting to cover the forest trails independently. Ice Fishing sessions include a guide drilling the ice on one of the frozen lakes, teaching the technique, and cooking the catch at the lakeside.

SantaPark and Santa Claus Village are both within walking distance, and the wider Rovaniemi city centre is around 8km north. Rovaniemi Airport is a short transfer away with regular flights from Helsinki and seasonal connections from further afield. The surrounding forest and lake landscape gives direct access to Northern Lights viewing in winter and to the Midnight Sun, wild swimming, and hiking in summer.

Room Types

Arctic Treehouse Suite

The entry point at Arctic Treehouse Hotel and the category that gives the property its name. Each suite covers 27 square meters with a premium double bed or two separate beds, a panoramic window positioned so the view of the sky above the treetops is visible from the bed, and a bathroom with underfloor heating and a rainfall shower.

Some suites include a nest-like extra bed built into the room. Seven of the Treehouse Suites have a kitchenette and can interconnect on request for families or groups.

Arctic Glasshouse

The Glasshouses step up considerably in scale, with two bedrooms, a living room with a sofa bed that sleeps up to six, two bathrooms, a private sauna, a fireplace, a kitchenette with an electric hob, and a private deck facing the northern sky.

The sauna and fireplace combination makes these the most complete version of the Finnish cabin experience the property offers, and the private deck gives the best position on the property for Northern Lights viewing away from the main building.

Finland’s glass igloos have become one of the most recognizable symbols of Arctic luxury travel, and for good reason. Few experiences place you this close to the natural world while keeping you this comfortable. Knowing what to expect ahead of time will help you enjoy all the magic that makes a glass igloo stay so […]

Kenya’s most compelling honeymoon itinerary moves between two entirely different worlds: the wildlife-dense plains of the Maasai Mara and the ancient coral-stone quietude of Lamu Island. Together, they form a journey that is both dramatically varied and precisely calibrated for couples seeking depth over spectacle.

While the Masai Mara dominates Kenya’s safari conversation, Laikipia Plateau has quietly assembled one of Africa’s most compelling luxury wildlife destinations across its network of private conservancies. Here, exclusivity is structural rather than marketed; it takes the form of land, access, and a conservation model that keeps the crowds out by design.

The Amalfi Coast offers no shortage of places to spend money well, but Positano and Ravello represent two fundamentally different arguments for how a luxury trip here should feel. Choosing between them is less a matter of preference and more a question of what kind of traveller you actually are.
