The southwest coast of St Lucia has produced more honeymoon photographs than any other stretch of the Caribbean, and the Pitons look exactly as good in person as they do in all of them.

St Lucia has been a honeymoon destination for long enough that the local hospitality industry has become very good at it. The combination of dramatic landscape, intimate resort properties and an island small enough to feel like yours works in a way that larger, more developed Caribbean destinations rarely replicate. The Pitons frame the southwest coast in a way that makes every sundowner feel considered. The resorts in the Soufriere area are built around the view. The island knows what it is for and delivers it consistently.
Here is what planning a honeymoon in St Lucia actually involves.

About Do Not Disturb

Do Not Disturb is a luxury travel company specializing in carefully designed journeys and considered experiences. Each itinerary we build for our clients is informed by real destination knowledge, offering insight into places, cultures, and moments that shape how a trip comes together.

If this destination has sparked ideas, the itinerary can be developed into a private journey tailored to your interests and travel style, with hand-picked stays, thoughtful routing, and experiences curated around what matters most to you.

Choosing Where to Stay

The most important decision in a St Lucia honeymoon is which part of the island to base yourself in, and the answer for most couples is the southwest around Soufriere.

The properties here sit within or directly beside the Pitons Management Area, and the best of them use the landscape as their primary amenity. Ladera Resort positions its open-sided suites on a ridge between the two peaks at 300 meters, with plunge pools that face directly onto Gros and Petit Piton and no wall on the view side.

It is one of the more singular hotel experiences in the Caribbean. Sugar Beach, a Viceroy Resort, occupies the valley floor between the Pitons with a black sand beach, exceptional spa and a pool setting that makes the backdrop feel almost theatrical. Anse Chastanet spreads across a hillside above its own beach with a relaxed character and one of the best snorkeling and diving operations in the eastern Caribbean directly offshore.

The north of the island around Rodney Bay has a different character, more developed, more social and better connected to restaurants and nightlife. For a honeymoon focused on privacy and landscape, the southwest wins.

What to Do

Many visitors spend at least one day exploring the southwest coast around Soufrière. The area is home to the Pitons, Sulphur Springs, Diamond Falls and some of the island’s most celebrated hotels, all within a relatively short distance of one another.

Gros Piton can be climbed with a licensed guide, with most ascents taking between two and three hours. For those who would rather stay at sea level, the view from the water is arguably more impressive. Private boat charters along the west coast pass beneath the Pitons, stop at secluded bays and provide access to some of the island’s best snorkelling.

Beyond the coastline, attractions such as Diamond Falls, the botanical gardens and Rabot Estate offer an insight into the island’s volcanic landscape and cocoa-growing heritage. Many visitors combine these experiences with long lunches and afternoons back at their hotel, making the most of the scenery that defines this part of St Lucia.

Combining St Lucia with Another Island

St Lucia works well as a standalone honeymoon destination for couples who want ten days to two weeks of immersion in one place. It also pairs naturally with Barbados for those wanting two distinct Caribbean experiences in a single trip.

Barbados adds a different register entirely. Where St Lucia is dramatic and intimate, Barbados is social and sun-drenched, with a west coast of calm beaches, beach clubs and restaurants that gives the combination a satisfying arc from landscape and activity to pure relaxation. The flight between the two islands takes around forty minutes.

Do Not Disturb handles the full routing and resort selection for twin-center honeymoons, coordinating the inter-island connection and ensuring the two properties complement each other rather than repeat the same experience.

When to Go

The dry season from December through April is peak honeymoon season in St Lucia, with low humidity, reliable sunshine and the trade winds keeping the southwest coast comfortable. January through March in particular offers the most settled weather. February and early March are popular for Valentine’s and spring honeymoons and the best resort suites book out months ahead.

The shoulder months of November and May offer good value and reasonable weather with fewer crowds. The wet season from June through October brings afternoon showers and higher humidity but also significantly lower rates and a greener, more lush version of the island.

Getting There

From the US, St Lucia’s Hewanorra International Airport receives direct flights from New York, Miami, Atlanta and other East Coast cities on American, JetBlue and Delta.

Flight times are around four hours from New York and three from Miami. The airport sits in the south of the island, roughly ninety minutes from the Soufriere resort area by road.
