Luxury Castle Tour of Scotland: Private Highlands Journey

In detail

Edinburgh

Days 1–2

Edinburgh

Your journey begins in Edinburgh, where a meet-and-greet assistant ensures a smooth arrival and private transfer to your accommodation. After settling in, enjoy an introduction to one of Scotland’s great passions – whisky – during a guided tasting through the country’s five regions, followed by a traditional Scottish dinner.

Spend the next day exploring Edinburgh with a private guide. Visit Edinburgh Castle, stroll the Royal Mile, and admire the Georgian architecture of the New Town. Learn about the city’s royal connections and literary history, and enjoy Afternoon Tea at a classic setting overlooking Princes Street. The evening is yours to explore local restaurants or enjoy a quiet walk through the city’s cobbled streets.

The Highlands

Days 3–4

The Highlands

Leave Edinburgh behind and travel north into the Scottish Highlands, where landscapes of lochs and glens unfold. En route, stop at Stirling Castle, a symbol of Scotland’s royal past, before continuing through Rannoch Moor and Glencoe, two of the country’s most striking natural settings.

Base yourself near Inverness, the gateway to the Highlands. Over the next day, visit Cawdor Castle, explore the moving Culloden Battlefield, and tour Fort George, a vast 18th-century fortress overlooking the Moray Firth. Your driver-guide will share stories of clan rivalries and Jacobite uprisings, bringing the region’s history vividly to life. Evenings are free for dining at leisure or enjoying the quiet charm of your Highland retreat.

The Isle of Skye

Days 5–7

The Isle of Skye

Travel west toward the Isle of Skye, stopping at the picture-perfect Eilean Donan Castle, one of Scotland’s most photographed landmarks. Cross the Skye Bridge and settle into an island setting surrounded by rugged beauty and coastal charm.

Spend your time exploring Skye’s highlights – the Cuillin Mountains, the Old Man of Storr, and the dramatic landscapes of the Trotternish Peninsula. Visit Dunvegan Castle, home to the Clan MacLeod, and perhaps stop at Talisker Distillery for a tasting of its famous single malt. With your private driver, you’ll have the flexibility to explore the surrounding scenery.

On your final morning, return to the mainland via ferry to Mallaig, following the scenic Road to the Isles. Visit Morar’s Silver Sands and the Glenfinnan Viaduct, instantly recognizable from film and folklore, before continuing to the peaceful shores of Loch Linnhe.

Glasgow

Days 8–9

Glasgow

Travel south through the Trossachs National Park, pausing at Kilchurn Castle and the village of Luss by Loch Lomond, where you can stretch your legs and take in the tranquil views. Arrive in Glasgow, a city known for its Victorian heritage and creative buzz.

Your guided city tour introduces key landmarks, including Glasgow Cathedral, George Square, and the elegant architecture of Merchant City. Explore the works of Charles Rennie Mackintosh and enjoy time to shop or dine at leisure in this friendly, walkable city.

Departure

Day 10
