At a glance

Four Seasons Hotel at The Surf Club is a five-star oceanfront hotel in Surfside, built around a glamorous 1930s Miami Beach club.

The hotel grew out of The Surf Club, a 1930s members’ club that drew the likes of Sinatra and Churchill. Today, the original clubhouse is wrapped by new buildings by Richard Meier, with interiors by Joseph Dirand. Just 77 rooms and suites, most with floor-to-ceiling windows, marble bathrooms, and ocean views.

Dining is a destination, led by Thomas Keller’s Michelin-starred Surf Club Restaurant, the Italian Lido, a Champagne Bar with Miami’s largest list, and a casual beach restaurant. A holistic spa, a fitness center, and three pools (one adults-only) sit among 40 cabanas on a private beach. Intimate and design-led for its size, with a kids’ club on-site. The Bal Harbour Shops are minutes away, South Beach is a short drive, and the airport is about 30 minutes.

In detail

  • Food and Drink

    Food and Drink

Dining is one of the hotel’s headline acts. The Surf Club Restaurant is Thomas Keller’s first Florida venture, a one-Michelin-star room serving refined continental cooking.

Lido and Lido Terrace cover Italian and Mediterranean food, oceanfront, with a popular Sunday brunch, and the Champagne Bar holds the largest champagne selection in Miami in a glamorous, period-styled room. For something easier, Winston’s serves casual plates out on the beach.

  • Spa and Wellness

The Spa at The Surf Club is a holistic space with indoor and outdoor treatment areas, a sauna, and a steam room, covering massages, facials, body scrubs, and detox wraps. A fitness center is on hand alongside.

Out front, three pools step down toward the sand, one of them adults-only, with 40 daybed cabanas and a private stretch of Surfside beach, plus complimentary bikes and electric MOKEs for getting around.

  • Location

    Location

The hotel stands in Surfside, a quiet residential pocket on Collins Avenue just north of Bal Harbour and well north of the South Beach crowds.

The Bal Harbour Shops, with their designer stores, are a couple of minutes away, and Aventura Mall is a short drive north. South Beach and its Art Deco district are about 15 minutes south, with downtown Miami and the airport roughly half an hour away.

Napa still sets the benchmark for American wine travel, but it is far from the only place doing it well. Across the US, a handful of regions have built serious reputations for specific grapes, distinct climates, and style of hospitality.

Kenya’s most compelling honeymoon itinerary moves between two entirely different worlds: the wildlife-dense plains of the Maasai Mara and the ancient coral-stone quietude of Lamu Island. Together, they form a journey that is both dramatically varied and precisely calibrated for couples seeking depth over spectacle.
