At a glance

The New York EDITION is a five-star design hotel in the landmark Metropolitan Life Clock Tower, across from Madison Square Park.

The hotel occupies the 1909 Metropolitan Life Clock Tower, reworked by Ian Schrager into a quietly glamorous Manhattan property. The 271 rooms and suites are warm and residential, with oak floors and big windows framing the park, the Empire State Building, or the skyline.

Dining is led by The Clocktower, Chef Jason Atherton’s Michelin-starred restaurant on the landmarked second floor, a set of panelled rooms with a billiards room and a gold-leaf bar. The Lobby Bar handles cocktails and light meals through the day. A small spa and 24-hour fitness center cover wellness, though no pool. A polished grown-up city hotel for short Manhattan breaks, with Madison Square Park across the street and the Flatiron, NoMad, and the rest of Manhattan on foot or by subway.

In detail

  • Food and Drink

    Food and Drink

Dining is a strength. The Clocktower is the headline, Chef Jason Atherton’s Michelin-starred restaurant on the building’s landmarked second floor, serving modern British cooking across three panelled dining rooms, with a billiards room and a bar finished in 24-karat gold leaf. The wine list reaches around 700 bottles.

Down in the lobby, the Lobby Bar pours seasonal cocktails and light plates from morning to night, open to guests and New Yorkers alike.

  • Spa and Wellness

    Spa and Wellness

The spa is a small, calm space set high in the tower, with a short menu of massages and facials, and a 24-hour fitness center alongside.

This is a city hotel rather than a resort, so there is no pool. What the EDITION trades on instead is the building itself, the quiet of the high floors, the residential rooms, and the rare luxury, in midtown Manhattan, of being able to close the curtains and hear nothing.

  • Location

    Location

The New York EDITION faces Madison Square Park, on the edge of NoMad and the Flatiron District, one of the most walkable parts of Manhattan.

Eataly and the Flatiron Building are a block or two away, Chelsea and the High Line are a short walk west, and Midtown, Greenwich Village, and the rest of the city are minutes by subway from the 23rd Street stations nearby. All three airports are reachable in under an hour.

Napa still sets the benchmark for American wine travel, but it is far from the only place doing it well. Across the US, a handful of regions have built serious reputations for specific grapes, distinct climates, and style of hospitality.

Kenya’s most compelling honeymoon itinerary moves between two entirely different worlds: the wildlife-dense plains of the Maasai Mara and the ancient coral-stone quietude of Lamu Island. Together, they form a journey that is both dramatically varied and precisely calibrated for couples seeking depth over spectacle.
