Taveuni Island Resort & Spa sits on the shores of Fiji’s Garden Island, a secluded, family-owned all-inclusive property with just 12 villas set within tropical gardens.

Each villa offers sweeping views of the ocean or jungle, with high ceilings, handcrafted furnishings, and expansive decks. Many include private plunge pools. The flagship Grand Matalau Villa is a two-bedroom option with its own plunge pool, dedicated chef, and service staff.

The resort sits on the Somosomo Strait beside the Rainbow Reef, the soft coral capital of the world, with diving arranged through the nearby Taveuni Ocean Sports. The Over the Cliff Pool stretches past the edge of the cliff for long views over the strait, and the Bouma National Heritage Park, Tavoro waterfalls, and Tagimoucia crater lake are all within reach. Daily-changing menus draw on the resort’s own organic farm.

    Rates are all-inclusive, with the cooking driven by the resort’s own organic farm and the day’s catch. A single ocean-view restaurant opens to the sea on an al fresco deck, where the menu changes daily around homegrown fruit, vegetables, and local seafood.

    Meals can also be set up in your villa, at a scenic lookout, or in the private Sunset Dining Bure. A beach bar handles sundowners.

    Spa and Wellness

    The resort spa keeps things simple and Fijian, with massages, facials, and body scrubs that can be booked in the spa or out in the open air.

    The standout is the Over the Cliff Pool, a horizon pool that reaches past the edge of the cliff for long views over the Somosomo Strait. Sun loungers, beachfront hammocks, and the quiet of the gardens round out the downtime.

    Taveuni is built for the water. The resort stands on the Somosomo Strait beside the Rainbow Reef, the soft coral capital of the world, with diving arranged through the nearby Taveuni Ocean Sports and snorkelling and kayaking straight off the private beach.

    On land, the Bouma National Heritage Park, the Tavoro waterfalls, the Lavena Coastal Walk, and the Tagimoucia crater lake are all close. A weekly Fijian cultural night covers the rest.

Set within tropical gardens, these split-level villas feature a separate bedroom and lounge, indoor shower, and a private lanai. Ocean views are minimal, with the villas close to the main pool.

All bures include king beds, air conditioning, spacious decks, mini bars, tea and coffee facilities, and fresh-baked cookies daily. The entry-level category.
