The Library Samui is a minimalist design hotel of 46 studios, suites, and villas on Chaweng Beach, Koh Samui, known for its blood-red swimming pool.
The concept is in the name: a working library of more than 1,400 books to borrow, reading sculptures around the grounds, and 46 all-white units styled as blank pages. Against that white backdrop, the famous red pool, with scarlet tiles and matching umbrellas, does the talking.
Accommodation extends from the Smart Studio up to suites and the Secret Pool Villas, the largest with private jacuzzis and pools. The Page, the beachfront restaurant, leads the dining, with a tapas bar and cocktail gallery alongside, and a spa and gym beyond. The hotel opens onto Chaweng Beach, with the area’s shops and dining a short walk away and the airport ten minutes out.
The Page is the main restaurant, set on the beachfront in a monochrome design, with a menu of old-recipe Thai dishes and international fusion through the day and a long cocktail list.
The hotel can lay on a private dinner on the sand and operates Thai cooking classes. A tapas bar and the Drink Gallery handle the more casual end, with the beach bar serving snacks by the pool.
Wellness is low-key and design-led, built around a spa with a menu of massages and beauty treatments and a fitness room for keeping a routine.
The centrepiece is the red pool, a saltwater landmark in scarlet tile that draws as many photographs as swimmers, backed by the white buildings and the green of the gardens. The beach is steps away when you want salt water instead.
The Library opens straight onto Chaweng Beach, the longest and liveliest stretch of sand on Koh Samui’s east coast. Central Chaweng, with its malls, restaurants, and bars, is within walking distance, so the hotel stays quiet while the action is a few minutes away.
Samui Airport is about ten minutes by car, with Fisherman’s Village a short drive north.
