Request a quoteThe hotel runs 565 rooms and suites across those 36 levels, all positioned above the surrounding skyline. The windows are the calling card: the largest of any hotel facing Sydney Harbour, designed to make the Opera House and Harbour Bridge views the headline.
The Rocks neighborhood surrounds the property, with Circular Quay, the ferry terminal, and Sydney Harbour Bridge within easy walking distance. Barangaroo and the Walsh Bay theatres sit on either side, and Observatory Hill is a short uphill walk from the entrance.
Dining and drinking lean into the elevation. Altitude on Level 36 is the signature restaurant, with Blu Bar on the same floor working the panorama after dark. Chi, The Spa was named Australia’s number one hotel spa at the 2025 Travel + Leisure Luxury Awards Asia Pacific, and the suite lineup tops out at the Royal Suite.
Dining splits across five venues. Altitude on Level 36 leads the lineup with modern Australian cooking and panoramic views, while Blu Bar on 36 works the same outlook after dark with cocktails and bar plates.
On lower floors, Café Mix runs the buffet operation and the Lobby Lounge handles all-day drinks. Shangri-La’s signature High Tea brings a more formal afternoon ritual.
Wellness at this hotel centres on Chi, The Spa, with six treatment suites, relaxation pods, and a menu drawing on Asian wellness traditions, Australian healing techniques, and native botanical ingredients. The 2025 Travel + Leisure Luxury Awards Asia Pacific named it Australia’s number one hotel spa.
A Level 2 Health Club adds an indoor heated pool, sauna, whirlpool, and a 24-hour gym for in-house guests.
Shangri-La Sydney sits at 176 Cumberland Street, on the highest point of The Rocks, Sydney’s oldest neighborhood. The 36-storey tower puts most rooms above the surrounding skyline, with views taking in Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Opera House, Circular Quay, Barangaroo, and Observatory Hill.
The Opera House, Bridge, and Circular Quay ferry terminal are all within easy walking distance. Sydney Airport is around 20 minutes by car, with light rail and rail connections close by.
The Deluxe Darling Harbour Room overlooks Darling Harbour, with views taking in Pyrmont Bay and Observatory Hill. Each room runs 430-538 sqf, with a spacious marble bathroom featuring a separate bath and shower.
Two other Deluxe categories, Opera House City and Grand Harbour View, offer the same footprint with different sightlines. A natural choice for guests who want city or harbour views without committing to the Premier tier.
The Premier Sydney Harbour Room runs to 645 sqf with panoramic 270-degree views over Sydney Harbour, the Opera House, and Harbour Bridge. The contemporary design sits in a larger floor footprint than the Deluxe tier, with an elegant marble bathroom and harbour-facing windows.
A Grand Premier version, located above floor 14, brings the same room with elevated sightlines for guests who want maximum harbour exposure.
The Sydney Harbour Suite overlooks the harbour and includes access to the Horizon Club Lounge for upgraded breakfast, evening cocktails, and dedicated check-in. The suite has a separate lounge with a queen-size sofa bed and a pillow menu.
The marble bathroom comes with a separate shower and a window-level bath. Other suite categories include the Ambassador, Governor, Presidential, and Executive Sydney Harbour Suite.
The Royal Suite is the flagship of the lineup, with a grand piano, dedicated dining room, and executive study laid out across the upper levels of the building. The bedroom and living spaces are positioned for sweeping harbour views over the city.
