Raya Heritage is a riverside, all-suite hotel outside Chiang Mai, built around northern Thailand’s Lanna craft traditions.

The hotel holds 38 suites across three floors, set in gardens on the Ping River in Mae Rim, north of Chiang Mai. It belongs to the Leading Hotels of the World, and the design leans on local Lanna craft, handwoven textiles, pottery, baskets, and woodcarving, in calm, earthy tones.

Suites come in three types: the 75 sqm Rin Terrace and Huen Bon, the latter with high Lanna ceilings, and the 100 sqm Kraam Pool Suites, each with a private pool steps from the river. Dining centres on Khu Khao, a Lanna restaurant built on the region’s rice culture. A quiet, romantic place, well-suited to couples and to anyone using Chiang Mai as a base, with the old town’s temples about 20 minutes away. A free shuttle covers the trip into the city.

Food and Drink

Khu Khao is the main restaurant, an open-air room built around the rice-based cooking of northern Thailand, with seasonal, locally sourced menus that nod to neighbouring Laos, Burma, and China.

Laan Cha Tea Terrace handles riverside afternoon tea and lighter plates, with Baan Ta Lounge & Lawn covering drinks, herbal infusions, and bar snacks. All three look out over the Ping River.
Spa and Wellness

Ai Waan Spa draws on northern Thai and Burmese healing traditions, with a herbal steam room and a signature massage that uses warm bamboo to work tired muscles. The treatments lean traditional and unhurried, in keeping with the rest of the hotel.

Beyond the spa there is a fitness room and a swimming pool set above the river, with the same quiet, garden-and-water views found across the property.
Location

Raya Heritage sits in Mae Rim, on the banks of the Ping River a short way north of Chiang Mai, in gardens that keep it quiet and green despite being close to the city.

The old town, with its temples, markets, and restaurants, is about 20 minutes away, with a complimentary shuttle operating in throughout the day. Chiang Mai International Airport is roughly half an hour.
