At a glance

Outrigger Phi Phi Island Resort, the former Zeavola, is a boat-access resort on Laem Tong Beach, at the quiet northern tip of Thailand’s Phi Phi Don.

The resort took the Outrigger name in 2025 after a full renovation of the much-loved Zeavola. Its 63 suites and villas run along the sand and back into the gardens, finished in natural textures and Southern Thai detail, with the beachfront villas opening straight onto the sea.

Days keep an easy, barefoot rhythm built around couples and honeymooners after somewhere quiet and remote. Dining moves from the all-day Mala Kitchen to the beachfront Edgewater Bar & Grill, and Zeavola Spa anchors wellness alongside a gym, a yoga sala, and sunrise sessions by the sea. The water does most of the work, with a PADI dive centre, reef snorkelling offshore, kayaks, and longtail trips to Maya Bay and the surrounding lagoons. Transfers come by boat from Phuket or Krabi.

In detail

  • Food and Drink

    Food and Drink

Dining draws on the Thai idea of samrub, shared dishes meant to be eaten slowly. Mala Kitchen is the all-day restaurant, covering Thai and international cooking from breakfast through dinner.

The Edgewater Bar & Grill works the beachfront, with grilled seafood, Thai plates, and cocktails as the sun drops, and local musicians playing along the sand at night. Private beach dinners, a chef’s table, and cooking classes can be arranged.

  • Spa and Wellness

    Spa and Wellness

Zeavola Spa is the centre of the wellness offer, working from Thai traditions and restorative rituals, with treatments that can also come to your villa.

The wider programme leans into island life: Rub Aroon sunrise yoga by the sea, an open-air yoga sala, and a wellness zone with a gym and a lap pool. A beachfront swimming pool covers the slower afternoons.

  • Location

    Location

The resort holds the northern tip of Phi Phi Don, on Laem Tong Beach, inside a protected national marine park and well away from the island’s busier bays. White sand opens onto calm water, coral reefs, and limestone cliffs, with neighbouring Nui and Loh Lana bays close by.

There are no roads in. Arrival is by boat from Phuket or Krabi, around two hours all in.

Room Types

Beachfront Pool Villa

The resort’s signature room, opening straight onto the white sand with a private pool and uninterrupted sea views from the terrace.

Floor-to-ceiling windows pull the Andaman in, and the layout leans into the slow, barefoot days the island is built for.

Koh Samui represents one of Thailand’s most successful transformations from an agricultural island to an upmarket resort destination. Northern Thailand operates according to different historical and spiritual logic than the central kingdom. Chiang Mai’s three primary temples reveal this distinction more clearly than any guidebook summary. Lanna, the historical kingdom centered in the north, developed as a separate cultural entity, influenced by Khmer, Burmese, and Mon traditions rather than the centralized Siamese model.
