Dining at Wharekauhau is rooted in the estate itself, with seasonal menus built around estate-grown produce, foraged ingredients, and local artisan suppliers.

A 5,000-bottle cellar focuses on boutique Martinborough and New Zealand wines, with rare tastings available at the Sommelier’s Table featuring Foley Wines and local vintages. The estate even produces its own Lighthouse Gin, distilled with mountain spring water and native botanicals at the edge of Cape Palliser.

Wharekauhau’s activity programme ranges from adrenaline to indulgence, with something compelling at every level.

ATV quad biking across black sand beaches, guided heritage farm tours, archery, clay target shooting, and e-bike coastal rides cover the adventurous end, while wine lovers are well served with Martinborough vineyard tours, private Sommelier’s Table tastings, and the extraordinary Signature Foley Wine Flight by helicopter across both islands. Private stargazing, a Chef in the Wild outdoor feast, and the estate’s own Lighthouse Gin tasting round out an exceptional programme.

Travel inspiration and editorials

Auckland 8 min read

Auckland is New Zealand’s largest city and its primary international gateway, which means most travellers pass through it. The city has become genuinely interesting in recent years, with a restaurant scene that ranks internationally, galleries and museums that justify time, and neighbourhoods that feel lived-in rather than designed for tourism.

Milford Sound 8 min read

Milford Sound and Doubtful Sound are the two primary fjords, and they operate on completely different scales and rhythms. Understanding the distinction between them is essential to planning properly.

At Do Not Disturb, we work directly with winemakers, cellar door managers, and producers throughout New Zealand’s regions to arrange private tastings, behind-the-scenes cellar visits, and dinners that connect you with the actual people shaping the country’s wine culture.

Kenya’s most compelling honeymoon itinerary moves between two entirely different worlds: the wildlife-dense plains of the Maasai Mara and the ancient coral-stone quietude of Lamu Island. Together, they form a journey that is both dramatically varied and precisely calibrated for couples seeking depth over spectacle.
