At a glance

Le Negresco has stood on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice since 1913, its pink dome one of the most recognisable landmarks on the French Riviera.

Each of the 102 rooms and 26 suites tells its own story through the great eras of French art, fitted with period furniture and paintings that trace the history of French style from the Grand Siècle of Louis XIV to the present day.

The hotel is now owned by FDMAN, the Mesnage-Augier-Negresco Endowment Fund, and operates as an independent property with no chain affiliation. The building faces the Bay of Angels directly, with the Mediterranean on one side and the city of Nice on the other. Old Town is a 15-minute walk, and Nice Côte d’Azur Airport is five kilometres away.

Travel inspiration and editorials

Strasbourg, France 5 min read

France’s most rewarding cities are not always its most photographed. Lyon, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Marseille, and Strasbourg each hold a distinct identity shaped by trade, architecture, and food, the kind Paris rarely replicates. For travellers building a serious France itinerary, these five are not detours. They are the destination.

Luminara's art collection contains 731 pieces, approximately 65 percent of which were specifically commissioned for the vessel. The collection includes works by Paul Klee, David Hockney, Alexander Calder, Henri Matisse, Gerhard Richter, and Andy Warhol. A suspended light sculpture spans seven stories through the aft staircase atrium. This level of artistic curation isn't typical for any ship, yacht or otherwise. Most luxury vessels include fine art as window dressing. Luminara treats the art collection as a legitimate design component that required curatorial expertise and curatorial investment. That distinction matters, because it reveals how a luxury hotel brand approaches the problem differently than a ship operator would. 6 min read

Ritz-Carlton didn’t enter yachting to build bigger ships. They entered to prove that service architecture matters more than square footage. On Luminara, that difference becomes impossible to ignore.

French Riviera Luxury Travel 7 min read

Before it became synonymous with yachts and cinema, the French Riviera was a quiet coastline prescribed for winter health. Over two centuries, it evolved into the world’s most enduring symbol of luxury travel.

Marseille 5 min read

Marseille tells its story without polish. A working port before it was ever a destination, it hums with energy — fishermen, spice markets, sea spray, and sun on stone. This is France in its rawest form: alive, imperfect, and entirely its own.
