This nine-day journey through Puerto Rico invites you to experience the island’s history, landscapes, and effortless warmth. Discover everything from the pastel charm of Old San Juan to the wild cliffs of Cabo Rojo; each area revealing a new expression of the island’s spirit.
Your adventure begins in San Juan, where you’ll be met at the airport and transferred to your boutique hotel in the heart of Old San Juan. As dusk falls, take an evening stroll through its cobblestone lanes, pastel houses and ornate balconies. Dinner tonight introduces you to Puerto Rico’s dynamic multicultural cuisine.
The next day, explore San Juan’s storied past with a private guide. Visit El Morro and Castillo San Cristóbal, the centuries-old fortresses that guard the city’s edges, and pause in shaded plazas where local artisans display their work. As evening approaches, sip a rum cocktail on your hotel’s rooftop terrace, the Atlantic glimmering in the distance.
Venture beyond the city on day three into El Yunque National Forest, the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. National Forest System. Here, trails weave between giant ferns and hidden waterfalls. Swim in natural pools, enjoy a picnic surrounded by birdsong, and breathe in the fresh, earthy air before returning to the coast for a relaxed evening.
A short flight or ferry brings you to Vieques, a tranquil island paradise brimming with exotic wildlife. Check into your beachfront resort, where white sands and turquoise shallows set the scene for total relaxation. Spend your first afternoon at leisure – perhaps kayaking through quiet mangroves or simply unwinding with a seaside lunch of fresh-caught seafood.
The following evening brings one of the Caribbean’s most magical experiences: a guided kayak tour through Mosquito Bay, the world’s brightest bioluminescent lagoon. As your paddle stirs the water, millions of microorganisms light up in blue-green flashes, a completely otherworldly experience.
Return to the mainland and journey south to Ponce, the “Pearl of the South.” Check into an elegant historic hotel and spend the afternoon exploring the city’s cultural highlights, including the bold red-and-black Parque de Bombas, the impressive Ponce Museum of Art, and the palm-lined plazas where music fills the air.
The next day, travel inland to Adjuntas, a mountain town known as the island’s coffee heartland. Visit a working plantation for a private tour and tasting, learning how altitude, soil, and craft come together to create Puerto Rico’s celebrated coffee. Enjoy a long, scenic lunch at a rustic lodge before returning to Ponce for a final evening stroll through its graceful streets.
Head west to Cabo Rojo, where the island reveals one of its most dramatic landscapes. Here, white salt flats shimmer under the sun and the Los Morrillos Lighthouse stands watch above turquoise waters. Spend the day exploring coastal trails and relaxing on Playa Sucia, a sweeping beach backed by limestone cliffs and framed by endless sea views.
Return to San Juan the next morning, with time for a final brunch or last-minute shopping before your private transfer to the airport for you return flight home.
