At a glance

Nine Skies is a five-bedroom, all-inclusive tea bungalow on a working estate above Demodara, part of the Teardrop Hotels collection.

The building sits within view of the Demodera Loop, one of the most photographed railway engineering feats in Sri Lanka, with the Nine Arch Bridge a short walk through the tea gardens. At this altitude, the air is cool and the mornings are worth getting up for.

Butler service, an infinity pool, a resident naturalist, and a kitchen that operates on locally sourced produce make Nine Skies a place to stop and settle rather than move through quickly. Rooms extend from the twin Nine Skies Room up to the Ella Rock Suite, with all-inclusive access to meals, drinks, and the property’s wider offer across the day.
