At a glance

Kirana, meaning “ray of light,” is a four-bedroom beachfront villa on Sri Lanka’s southwestern coast near Bentota, designed by architect Channa Daswatte and operated by the team behind Santani Wellness.

The villa sits directly on a quiet stretch of beach with a 20-metre infinity pool looking out to sea, and the interiors are open-plan and light-filled, built around views of the gardens and ocean. It can be booked on a room-only basis or taken exclusively as a whole, sleeping up to eight guests.

Dining follows the Santani concept of intelligent eating, built around the Ayurvedic philosophy of Rasa Haya, the six tastes. The kitchen works with taste-based nutrition, balancing the six flavours to suit each guest’s individual needs, with breakfast from continental to Sri Lankan and lunch and dinner drawing on local seafood and produce. The villa does not serve alcohol, though guests are welcome to bring their own.

Dining at Kirana follows the Santani concept of intelligent eating, built around the Ayurvedic philosophy of Rasa Haya, the six tastes. Rather than designing menus around nutrients, the kitchen works with taste-based nutrition, balancing the six flavours to suit each guest’s individual needs.

Breakfast extends from continental and full cooked options to a traditional Sri Lankan spread. Lunch and dinner draw on local seafood and Sri Lankan produce, with dietary requirements accommodated throughout. The villa does not serve alcohol, though guests are welcome to bring their own.

  • Spa and Wellness

Massage and wellness treatments can be arranged on site throughout a stay.

The 20-metre infinity pool and private beach are the main focal points for unwinding during the day, with the villa’s position on a quiet stretch of coast keeping the ocean as the primary soundtrack. Cycling and film nights can also be arranged for guests wanting something to do between beach and pool time.

Sri Lanka’s tea country is a place where production and landscape are inseparable. From hand-plucked leaves to historic bungalows, this guide walks you through how the region looks, works and feels.

Kenya’s most compelling honeymoon itinerary moves between two entirely different worlds: the wildlife-dense plains of the Maasai Mara and the ancient coral-stone quietude of Lamu Island. Together, they form a journey that is both dramatically varied and precisely calibrated for couples seeking depth over spectacle.

While the Masai Mara dominates Kenya’s safari conversation, Laikipia Plateau has quietly assembled one of Africa’s most compelling luxury wildlife destinations across its network of private conservancies. Here, exclusivity is structural rather than marketed; it takes the form of land, access, and a conservation model that keeps the crowds out by design.

The Amalfi Coast offers no shortage of places to spend money well, but Positano and Ravello represent two fundamentally different arguments for how a luxury trip here should feel. Choosing between them is less a matter of preference and more a question of what kind of traveller you actually are.
