From the rooftops of Mexico City to the private beaches of Los Cabos, this is Mexico at its most romantic.

At a glance...

A Mexico honeymoon rewards couples who want more than a beach. This itinerary opens in Mexico City, one of the world’s great capital cities, where pre-Columbian ruins, neighbourhood mezcalerias, and some of Latin America’s best restaurants sit within easy reach of each other. From there, you fly south to Oaxaca, a UNESCO-listed colonial city with a food scene that draws chefs from across the world. The final chapter is Los Cabos, where the Pacific meets the Sea of Cortez and private villas face one of Mexico’s most dramatic coastlines. Flights, transfers, and handpicked accommodation throughout are included.

Why City, Coast & Cuisine: A Mexico Honeymoon

In detail

  • Days 1 to 4 - Mexico City

    Days 1 to 4 - Mexico City

Mexico City is one of the most compelling cities on earth for honeymooners who want culture alongside comfort. You arrive into one of the world’s largest capitals and check into a boutique hotel in Colonia Roma or Polanco, the two neighbourhoods that best reward slow exploration on foot.

Days here move at whatever pace suits you: morning coffee and pan dulce at a local bakery, an afternoon at Frida Kahlo’s Casa Azul in Coyoacan, and dinner at one of the city’s landmark restaurants. The ruins of Teotihuacan, less than an hour from the city centre, make for a memorable day trip before you head south.

  • Days 5 to 8 - Oaxaca

    Days 5 to 8 - Oaxaca

A short flight south brings you to Oaxaca, a colonial city in the Sierra Madre with a food culture that has earned it a permanent place on the world’s culinary map. Mole, tlayudas, and mezcal produced in the valleys just outside the city are reason enough to come; the 16th-century architecture and surrounding indigenous communities make the case even stronger.

Your base is a restored colonial property in the historic centre, within walking distance of the markets and the Zocalo. A half-day excursion to Monte Alban, the ancient Zapotec city on the hilltop overlooking the valley, is one of the most quietly spectacular experiences Mexico has to offer.

  • Days 9 to 12 - Los Cabos

    Days 9 to 12 - Los Cabos

Los Cabos is where the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez converge at the southern tip of Baja California, and it makes for an exceptional Mexico honeymoon finale. The landscape here is different to anywhere else in the country: desert mountains dropping to turquoise water, with rock formations rising out of the sea at Land’s End.

Your hotel faces the water directly. Days are spent as you choose: swimming, spa treatments, boat trips to the natural arch at El Arco, or nothing at all. The dining scene has grown significantly in recent years, with a handful of restaurants now drawing serious attention from beyond Mexico. It’s a place that earns its reputation every evening at sunset.
