Loisaba Tented Camp sits on the edge of an escarpment within the 57,000-acre Loisaba Conservancy in northern Laikipia, with views stretching across the plains to Mount Kenya.
The conservancy is owned by the Loisaba Community Trust and operates as a working example of conservation, ranching, and tourism functioning together, with elephant, lion, and one of Kenya’s largest wild dog populations moving through the land alongside cattle grazing managed under a sustainability plan.
The camp sits on the site of a former homestead built by an Italian count, which burned down some years before the current property was built. What stands today retains the same panoramic position the original house held, rebuilt as a camp of canvas tents finished in polished wood.
Loisaba was recently purchased by The Nature Conservancy in partnership with Space for Giants, an elephant conservation foundation, reinforcing the land’s long term conservation purpose alongside its role as a safari destination.
