Tucked away along Brazil’s Atlantic coast, Trancoso and Itacaré reveal a more understated side of the country, where nature, culture and a slower rhythm of life take centre stage. This eight-day journey connects two of Bahia’s most atmospheric beach destinations, moving from refined coastal calm to rainforest-backed adventure.
Begin in Trancoso, a former fishing village turned discreet hideaway, known for its soft beaches, leafy lanes and the candlelit charm of the Quadrado. Days here unfold gently, shaped by sea swims, long lunches and time spent simply being present.
The journey then continues north to Itacaré, a place where jungle trails lead to hidden beaches and the coastline feels raw and untamed. Surrounded by rainforest and rivers, this final chapter offers space to explore, unwind and reconnect with nature.
Arrive in southern Bahia and transfer to Trancoso, where life moves at an unhurried pace. After settling into your boutique accommodation, take time to explore the Quadrado, the village’s grassy central square lined with colourful colonial houses and anchored by the Church of São João Batista.
Spend your first days easing into coastal life. Swim at Praia dos Nativos, stroll along palm-backed sands, or enjoy a relaxed spa treatment overlooking the ocean. Evenings are best spent dining locally, with fresh Bahian dishes served under the stars in an intimate, low-key setting.
With your bearings set, explore the wider coastline around Trancoso. A guided excursion to Praia do Espelho reveals one of Brazil’s most striking beaches, dotted with calm tidal pools that form among the reefs. Alternatively, kayak along the Rio Trancoso or ride on horseback at sunset.
Away from the beach, Trancoso’s creative spirit comes through in small galleries, artisan workshops and local kitchens. A private cooking experience, an afternoon wandering quiet backstreets, or simply time in a hammock completes these days, leaving space for reflection and rest.
Travel north to Itacaré, where the landscape becomes noticeably greener and more dramatic. Check into an eco-luxury retreat surrounded by lush rainforest.
Days here are flexible and active if you wish them to be. Hike through forest trails to beaches like Prainha, surf or watch the waves at Praia da Tiririca, or cool off beneath a waterfall hidden inland. Spend your final morning at leisure, perhaps with one last swim or a walk along the sand as the light shifts across the bay. A private transfer then takes you to the airport, bringing your journey along Bahia’s quieter coastline to a close.
