Belmond Sanctuary Lodge sits directly against the boundary of the Machu Picchu Sanctuary, the only property permitted inside it. Where every other guest in the region rides a bus up from Aguas Calientes each morning, staying here means the citadel is reachable on foot, before the first buses of the day have even begun their ascent.<\/p>\n
The lodge holds a limited number of rooms, and because it sits inside a protected boundary, availability does not expand with demand the way hotels in town can. Rooms look out over cloud forest rather than the citadel itself, keeping the ruins as something to walk to rather than view from a window.<\/p>\n
