Why Classic Caribbean: Antigua and Barbados

In detail

  • Days 1-5: Antigua

    Days 1-5: Antigua

Your journey begins in Antigua, where you’re met on arrival and transferred to The Inn at English Harbour, a boutique retreat of understated luxury and classic Caribbean beauty. Take time to unwind after your flight, perhaps with a swim in the infinity pool, a walk along the quiet beach, or a candlelit dinner at the open-air Terrace Restaurant overlooking the sea.

Over the next few days, immerse yourself in Antigua’s relaxed rhythm. Hike along scenic trails through the surrounding national park, discovering native flora and sweeping coastal views. Explore Nelson’s Dockyard, a UNESCO World Heritage Site rich with maritime history, and stroll along Fig Tree Drive, home to sugarcane fields and old windmills.

Spend a day in Barbuda, Antigua’s lesser-visited sister island, famous for its pink-sand beaches and crystalline waters. Before leaving, watch the sunset from Shirley Heights, one of the Caribbean’s most iconic viewpoints. If it’s a Sunday, the air fills with steel drums, barbecued seafood, and laughter – a joyful end to your stay on this beautiful island.

  • Days 6-10: Barbados

    Days 6-10: Barbados

Fly south to Barbados, where you’ll be met and transferred to The Sandpiper, a stunning hotel found on the island’s west coast. Settle into your beachfront suite, then enjoy an afternoon at leisure.

Discover the island’s beauty on a private boat trip along the calm west coast, stopping to snorkel with sea turtles and explore hidden coves. The next day, wander through Bridgetown, a UNESCO-listed capital filled with colonial architecture, colourful markets, and welcoming locals. You might choose to continue east to the wilder side of the island, where you’ll find a landscape of rugged cliffs, crashing waves, and sweeping views of the Atlantic.

No trip to Barbados is complete without experiencing its culinary culture. If your stay includes a Friday, head to Oistins Fish Fry for freshly caught and cooked fish. Another highlight is the Mount Gay Rum Distillery, where you’ll learn the story of one of the world’s oldest rum producers and sample its finest blends before a guided walking tour back in Bridgetown.

Your journey doesn’t start with a booking. It starts with a conversation.
